SUMMER READING LIST

NORTHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

Northwood High School supports an academic curriculum which emphasizes reading. For this reason summer reading is expected to be completed during the summer. Testing on summer reading will take place within the first two weeks of the school year.

Freshmen & FAME

Both general and enriched phases are to read both books:

The Giver (Lois Lowry)

Sophomores

Enriched phase students are to read both books:

Speak (Laurie Halse Anderson)

The Chocolate War (Robert Cormier)

General phase students are to choose one of the above.

Juniors

General phase students are to read:

A Child Called It (David Peltzer)

Enriched phase students are to read:

The Crucible (Arthur Miller)

Cold Sassy Tree (Olive Burns)

Seniors

General phase students are to read:

Murder on the Orient Express (Agatha Christie)

Enriched phase students are to read:

Heart of Darkness (Joseph Conrad)
